"Stop making noise!" the mole screamed loudly, but no one heard him over the loud popping sounds. And immediately after the scream, silence fell, broken by an unpleasant, harsh voice:

"How would I have gotten down from the top branch if I hadn't made noise! ​​Stupid mole!"

"You have paws! Don't you know how to move around without making noise?"

"I don't know, and I don't want to know!"

Edward would have stood there for a long time, his face hidden by his hands, if he hadn't noticed a bright sparkle. He spread his fingers slightly to get a better look, then removed his hands completely and stepped back, for he saw a large monster before him.

It was a bird, very large, as tall as Edward. Its entire body glowed with golden plumage, and its large emerald eyes glittered, making it difficult for others to see because of its habit of squinting.

"An owl," Edward remarked aloud, having guessed.

"Golden owl Zhurulla," the bird corrected him casually.

"Gilded," the mole clarified, "speak correctly!"

"What difference does it make how much gold there is!" the owl was indignant. "It's there anyway! So, I'm telling it like it is!"

"You have to speak correctly! The way Lola the doll calls us, that's how we should speak about ourselves!" the mole insisted.

It was obvious they weren't getting along; in their argument, they'd forgotten about Edward, and when they came to their senses, he was no longer there. They couldn't see him, as he was currently passing through one of the darkest places in this magical world, so they went looking for him in a completely different direction. In surprise, he rolled down a branch.
